Coimbra, the University World Heritage

Coimbra, the Portugal’s previous capital city for around 100 years, is known for its monuments and historical treasures and is home to one of the oldest universities in the world, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  

Divided into an upper and lower town, Coimbra, the students city with centuries of culture and history, is set in the amazing landscape of the eastern bank of the Mondego River, with its steep and winding alleys that hide students romantic stories that are translated into haunting metallic notes of the Portuguese guitar and the deep voices of “Student’s Fado”.

• Sightseeing and visits are subject to change. Whenever a visit is not possible due to monument or attraction closure, it will be, whenever possible, replaced by other activity.  On adverse weather conditions, some of the sightseeing and visits in this tour may be cancelled. We will do our best to replace them for other suitable activities, if possible.
• Tours are in English and Portuguese. Tours in French are also possible. Please contact us.
• Comfortable walking shoes are recommended, as well as sunscreen and hat in sunny days

• We have no deals with restaurants, but we can suggest few restaurants where you can have your meals

• If cancellation is received up to 5 days before the tour: full refund.
• If cancellation is received less than 5 days before the tour: 50% refund
• If cancellation is received less than 72 hours before the tour: no refund
• Tickets for monuments/attractions are not refundable
• Transport costs may not be refundable
